Don't get ripped off by fake computer professionals, so hold on to your money till your totally satisfied with the service or repair of your computers problem!Computer Cowboys in Spain

We all know what it's like when a computer or laptop strikes out and we need professional computer repair services. What's easier then to take some news paper and browse the classifieds for an appropriate expert to help us out of our computer dilema. There are loads of ads all promising to be either the best there is in Spain or the only real professional to leed you out of the dark forrest. And all for just some small amount called service charge. But how do you prevent to get riped off?

How to separate the good from the bad:

  • Does the professional have a landline phone number (starts with 9)?
  • Does the professional want money upfront?
  • What does the car look like?
  • What is his/hers general appearance like?
  • Does the "professional" have a NIE number or a S.L. (LTD) comany?
  • Does he/she look like he/she knows what he/she is doing or is he/she totally unsecure?
  • Does the "professional" have an own or company related email address like info@his_name_or_company.com or a web site like www.his_name_or_company.com?

Keep in mind that if you buy a computer or laptop or computer components of an unregistered "cowboy" you do not have any guaranty or warranty. Not even on his/her work.

If he/she is responsable for any data loos or massiv computer or network failures these people often tend to disapear when they notice they can not do the job due to lack of professionalism and knowledge. Usally the charge you with some facturas and requrest prepaymens because the need to buy some hardware for the job.

Don't ever pay a computer technician upfront for the total amount or for the replacement of computer parts or components that had been working before the technician set foot in your house or business premises.

Always let the "professional" give you a detailed quote for the complete repair, the needed parts and travel costs including all possible other costs!!

If you are not sure you are in good hands, call a real professional from a renomated computer shop in your area and have them take a look at your computer problem. Ask them for a quote as well. Now compare the quotes. If they have the sames repair meassures stated for trouble shooting and replacement parts or software installations, go for the cheaper if you feel comfortable and confident with that solution, else you should go for the "real professionals".
