Windows 7 Support ends 2020
If support for Windows 7 is discontinued on January 14, 2020, there will no longer be software and security updates. Anyone who sticks to his Windows 7 system risks being the victim of cyber attacks and malicious software. We recommend an early system upgrade to Windows 10, because if you are concerned with a change at an early stage, this not only minimizes risks, but also benefits from more up-to-date security features and easy menu navigation in Windows 10.
Do I have to upgrade my hardware?
In principle, Windows 10 works on any computer running Windows 7. The required system requirements are comparable. The new version tends to run faster and smoother. In most cases, the computer and driver are fully compatible with Windows 10. However, older devices may have components installed that have no new or custom drivers. In these cases, the respective components would have to be replaced.
Upgrade to Windows 10
For an upgrade a new laptop or computer is hardly required. If a computer has Windows 7 installed, Windows 10 will usually work fine on Windows 10. The big advantage of updating is that all files, whether music, movies or documents, are transferred from the old system to the new Windows 10. The place where the data is stored remains the same. So you do not have to search long to find your files.
Also all specially installed programs will work the same way as before.
For the launch of Windows 10, Microsoft has offered an update of Windows 7 and 8 for free. This offer has officially expired for two years. Nevertheless, in most cases it is still possible to carry this out. So you can save yourself the 145 € (price at Microsoft in October 2019). Whether a free upgrade after January 14, 2020 is still possible, is unknown. Of course, an upgrade of Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 is possible, too.
